The Movie I’m Introducing Today: The Social Network

Hi there! It’s ikuchan here!👋

This time I’m gonna share about the movie I watched recently.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with “Facebook”.

This movie is talk about the man who create Facebook, and the tangled human relationship behind it, and the legal battles away too much.

If you like these stories, I recommend watching it!

The story starts in 2003, a Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg gets dumped by his girlfriend.

(Actually, this part is fictional — in reality, Mark wasn’t dumped.)

Frustrated, he hacks into Harvard’s dorm databases and creates a website that lets students compare and rank photos of female students.

The site goes viral overnight, causing a massive stir across campus before being shut down the same day.

However, his programming skills catch the attention of two wealthy twin brothers(the Winklevoss twins) who invite him to help build a social network for Harvard students.

Mark agrees, but behind the scenes, he secretly starts working on his own project.

You can probably guess what happens next — the twins take him to court.

To make things even more complicated, Mark ends up clashing with his best friend and Facebook’s co-founder, Eduardo Saverin.

How did this chaotic journey lead to the creation of the Facebook we all know today?

That’s something you’ll have to see for yourself.

One of my favorite lines in the film is:

“Bosnia. They don’t have roads, but they have Facebook.”

This line comes when Mark, still glued to his laptop during a court recess, tells a young lawyer named Delpy that he’s checking Facebook activity in Bosnia.

Her witty response perfectly captures the global spread of Facebook — and the irony of its reach.

Another memorable quote is:

“For someone of your means, it’s like a speeding ticket.”

Delpy says this when advising Mark to settle his lawsuit out of court.

For Zuckerberg, a “speeding ticket” meant a settlement worth 65 million dollars at the time.

The line perfectly highlights the absurd scale of wealth at play — it’s humor with a bite.

After watching The Social Network, you might find yourself looking at Facebook — and maybe even the entire world of social media — in a completely new light.

That’s all for today’s blog!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll give this film a watch if you haven’t already.

See you in the next post — and until then, let’s all keep doing our best today! 😙
